Dear CPTEA Members,

Spring is in the air and in turn we are all busy bunnies!

This is a first part of a multi-part eblast Spring Newsletter.  More to come in the next few weeks.

In this eblast:

  1. PEBC/CPTEA Educator Award 2025 Nominations
  2. PEBC data sharing pilot feedback call out
  3. Conference Registration and Hotel Booking reminder
  4. Medisca Focus Group call out
  5. CCAPP 2025 Standards – refresh!
  6. CAPT Student Membership

PEBC/CPTEA Educator Award 2025 Nominations

Nomination submissions have been extended until April 30, 2025.

See the nomination package here (on our members only section of our website): PEBC/CPTEA Educators Award

Due to the short turn-around – members/nominees are welcome to submit an annotated version of the nomination submission, still showcasing how the criteria have been met.  Also past nominations that were not awarded in the last few years, where the activity cited is still an active part of delivery today, may resubmit.  The 2025 recipient(s) will be announced at our 2025 Annual General Meeting.  Nominees and subsequent recipient(s) must be active 2025 CPTEA members.

PEBC Data Sharing Pilot – Feedback Call out

The 2024 PEBC data to each school was enhanced this year with a pilot of sharing more data related to competency focused results.  This is pilot in both what is being reported and the format it is being reported in.  They would like our feedback.  Ideally only one submission per school (coordinator).  Please complete by May 12, 2025.  Please use this MS form: PEBC Pilot Feedback

Reminder: Conference Registration and Hotel Booking

Please register NOW for our conference – we need numbers to help finalize our planning.

Also a reminder that the hotel reservations need to be complete by April 28, 2025.

See earlier eblast this week, that the group rate will cover the night before as well as the night after the conference.  More coming on our final agenda and social events, but wow, we got some awesome things going on!

Medisca Focus Group call out

Medisca is looking to work with both CAPT and CPTEA to help them develop opportunities for both students and practicing technicians for advanced training in compounding.  They want to know what we may need or what would be attractive to schools to boost their curriculum or through CE opportunities.  This would be only a few hour commitment.  CPTEA would like to recommend 3-4 CPTEA educators for this focus group who are well versed in non-sterile compounding, related NAPRA competencies and CPTEA outcomes.  Interested members can put their names forward to angela.grimminck@mohawkcollege.ca and will be connected with the Medisca representatives.

CCAPP 2025 Standards – REFRESH!

The new CCAPP Standards (in place for July 2025) are published on their website.  If you have not recently done a refresh of that site, do so, and you will see that now guidance is embedded within the standards.  There will not be a separate guidance document.  Still to be published are templates for many of the standards to capture evidence.  Currently these are available only upon request to CCAPP, as they are still working on final template formatting.

CAPT Student Membership

Pharmacy Technician students are entitled to free membership with CAPT during their schooling.  There is no longer a code needed.  Students just have to register and enter their student ID.  Please encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity and the benefits of being a member (intern liability insurance).

Other updates on the way:

  • CPTEA Council Elections
  • CPHA and CSHP initiatives with CPTEA
  • NAPRA Competencies and CPTEA Outcomes planning
  • And more…
